You Were Right About Everything

Went to see Erin McKeown last night.

Smallest gig I've ever been to, with the possible exception of the Roadhouse tour, a gig which Tom McRae headlined, and Thea Gilmore and Jont supported - back in the days when all three were relative unknowns.

There were probably about forty, maybe fifty people in total. The Academy 3 isn't large, but it can hold about two hundred. It was empty enough that during the support act (Griffin House - good, great voice, nice bloke, but nothing hugely exciting) that most people stayed sitting on the floor.

When Erin came on she had us all clustered around the stage. She's sort of, um, folk-rock. Her earlier stuff is more acoustic but the set last night was electric and sounded damn good for it. Considering the tiny crowd it was a pretty good atmosphere. True, us all being British and over exposed, we were reluctant to properly dance (instead adopting that weird, bobbing-up-and-down-on-the-same-spot thing) but clapped and sang when instructed.

It was a great gig. If you get a couple of free minutes, head over to her website and check out some tracks. She has an amazing voice.

Meanwhile... I have a week off before starting my new job. I have nothing to do. It's times like this I always plan on doing all those little chores - y'know, properly cleaning my room, under the beds and everything, clearing out some of the crap from my cupboards, writing emails to all those people I haven't spoken to in months.

Or, y'know... I could just lounge about petting the cats, watching the DS9 DVDs I've just acquired and remembering just how nummy Alexander Siddig really was.

Yeah... that sounds good.

Listening to: Erin McKeown "You Were Right About Everything"

Quote: Peter (as a child): "Why did all the dinosaurs die out?"
Man at Museum: "Because you touch yourself at night."
