Joss Whedon. Not quite hero but still pretty cool.

There are two huge movies coming out this year.

No, I don't mean a re-release of Lord of the Rings, edition whatever-the-hell. Nor do I mean a mini-trailer for King Kong.

The first is The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Which should, by all rights, be huge. It probably will be, without any effort from me. But go see it anyway.

The second is Serenity - the Firefly movie. Y'know, that show from Joss Whedon that nobody watched (apparantly) and was canned, then released on DVD to huge acclaim?

Well it deserves it. Because... *drumroll please*

It's better than Buffy.

Honest. It's funny and smart and hip but without being over-hip and in danger of dating (like Nip/Tuck or Desperate Housewives). It has authentic silence in space (which is quite weird and unsettling to watch, even though you know it's more realistic than having a fake bang or "whoosh" of an engine). It has Mandarin (or Cantonese, can't tell, sorry Chris!) as human's main language outside English, and the characters frequently break into it with no care for non-Mandarin speaking audience members and to hell with subtitles, you have to guess!

It's... it's good. Okay?

Listening to: Boothby Graffoe "England"

Quote: Mal: "She has a name, Jayne."
Jayne: "So does my gun. I named her Vera."

PS: Happy birthday HAYLEY!
