Its name was Cocha, Cocha-a-bamba...

Isn`t it weird how one day can change everything?

Arrived in Cochabamba last night, after a seven hour coach journey, full of cold and developing a nasty cough. Not impressed with the city. La Paz might be the fastest growing city in SA but Cochabamba could win awards for the nastiest. One of our party was robbed just walking from the bus stop to the hotel, two blocks away. The streets are full of rubbish, and of course, dogs and cockroaches which are busy nibbling on the mounds of chicken heads. The walls are covered in graffitti. In other words, it sucks.

Didn`t feel like joining the others in a disco last night (although by all accounts it was crap anyways) so went home early to watch (hurrah!) Samarai X dubbed in English on Cartoon Network.

Today however it was like waking up to a different city. On top of it being a Sunday, it is also a public holiday, which means all the shops are shut, and the streets are empty of cars. People ride around on bikes or rollerblades, often trailing a dog in their wake. Kids play football in the empty streets. The rubbish fairy appears to have snuck in during the night to take away all the trash (if not the graffitti). It is gloriously sunny, and we spent a reasonably pleasant morning walking up to the giant Christ statue that overlooks the town. Followed by ice cream. Of course.

Strange, how much an opinion can change overnight.

Tomorrow we take a flight to Sucre, by all accounts a beautiful white city where the weather will be cooler. But its not like I have any of my ikkle strappy tops to wear anyway.

Man, I miss my wardrobe.

Random thing: Watching Jackie Chan in "Who Am I?" on the coach.
